Internship at the Amerikazentrum

The Amerikazentrum Hamburg e. V. is continuously looking for interns for at least three months and 25 hours per week. As the Amerikazentrum no longer has premises of its own, much of this working time is spent in the home office. Occasionally you will also help out in the evenings at our events, which take place at changing venues with changing cooperation partners.

Your tasks include:

• Assisting with the preparation, running and follow-up of events (this occasionally includes support at events in the early evening)

• Supporting marketing and outreach activities

• Writing texts, for example for the newsletter, and looking after our social media channels

• Helping to answer email and telephone enquiries

• General office work in coordination and close cooperation with the Amerikazentrum team

• Helping to maintain various mailing lists

• Member support

Your profile

Ideally you are studying American studies or cultural studies and have already gained some professional experience, internships included. You have a friendly, open manner and bring good MS Office skills, confidence in writing, good English and enjoyment of organising and working in a team. An independent and self-reliant way of working as well as flexibility and creativity round off your profile.

Our team

We are a very small, committed team that works together with enjoyment and great dedication in a friendly atmosphere, including via video conference. We cooperate with many different people and institutions, for example authors, artists, educational institutions, the U.S. Consulate General and various foundations. There are many opportunities here to work independently and on your own responsibility. Through our varied events – exhibitions, readings, film screenings, discussion evenings and lectures – you constantly encounter new content.
