A Global Education Network
EducationUSA is a global network of the U.S. Department of State with more than 430 international advising centres in over 175 countries and regions – including Germany.
The Amerikazentrum Hamburg is currently not an official EducationUSA advising centre. Nevertheless, we support the network’s goals.
The network promotes higher education in the United States worldwide by providing accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date information about study opportunities at accredited post-secondary institutions in the USA. EducationUSA also offers services to U.S. universities to support their recruitment strategies and internationalisation goals.
EducationUSA centres are located at U.S. embassies, in exchange programmes such as Fulbright, at international cultural centres, universities and non-profit organisations.
Below we offer orientation and point you to our partner institutes within the Association of German-American Institutes (VDAZ), which serve as authorised points of contact for individual study advice.

What EducationUSA Does
EducationUSA supports prospective students in successfully navigating the entire application and preparation process for studying in the USA:

- Cultural adjustment, mental health and social integration
What EducationUSA Does Not Do
EducationUSA is an official information and advising service for academic matters related to studying in the USA. Certain services are deliberately not offered in order to ensure objective, non-commercial advice.
In particular, EducationUSA does not provide support with the following:
Finding housing or arranging accommodation in the USA
EducationUSA is not responsible for finding apartments or arranging student housing.
Awarding scholarships or financial support
Information on funding is provided, but no scholarships of its own are awarded and no funding commitments are made.
Support with drafting application documents
Guidance on the application process is part of the advice, but there is no active help with writing essays, motivation letters or CVs.
Issuing visas or influencing visa decisions
Information on the visa procedure is provided, but there is no influence on decisions made by embassies or consulates.
