Sister City Partnership

Hamburg – Chicago

Over 30 years of friendship between the Hanseatic City and the Windy City.

Since 1994

A Special Friendship

The partnership between Hamburg and Chicago has existed since 1994 and was initiated by the then-mayors Henning Voscherau and Richard M. Daley. Both cities are connected not only by their similar size but also by their importance as trade centers and cultural metropolises.

The Amerikazentrum Hamburg celebrates this partnership with the podcast "ChicagoHamburg30" – voices from both cities about culture, economy, and the transatlantic friendship.
