Premiere: Land of Dreams

On 25 October, the premiere of “Land of Dreams” will take place at the Abaton. The event was organised by W-Film! We are delighted to be a partner for the premiere in northern Germany.

In their feature-film drama, director and artist Shirin Neshat and director Shoja Azari dissect the contradictions of American society! The refined dialogues are by Oscar winner Jean-Claude Carrière!

When dreams are locked out: In a near future, the United States has closed its external borders. The Census Bureau – now the authoritarian government's most important agency – develops a programme to “understand” and control citizens: it records their dreams. Simin is one such recorder, a so-called “dream catcher”. With her bodyguard Alan at her side, she drives through the Midwest and collects people's sometimes bizarre dreams, which often reveal bitter truths. Simin processes these encounters as well as her own experiences as an Iranian migrant by slipping into the roles of the dreamers, re-enacting them in Farsi and sharing them on social media. Over time, she realises that the line between dream and reality is often thin.

Shirin Neshat will be present at the premiere on 25 October at the Abaton and will talk about making the film.

The official cinema release for Land of Dreams is 3 November 2022.
