The film “Henny: A Legacy of Hope” tells the story of Holocaust survivor Henny Simon and her message of remembrance and responsibility.

Henny was born in Hanover, survived the Holocaust and later emigrated to the USA. For decades she remained silent about her experiences. Only in old age did she resolve to speak out, in the face of growing antisemitism, Holocaust denial and hatred.

In conversations with pupils and adults, she succeeded in connecting her personal story with current social developments, thereby strengthening awareness of the fight against intolerance, historical revisionism and human-rights violations. Her legacy lives on through the people she reached and through this film.

Afterwards there will be a discussion with the filmmaker Jerry Fischer and the migration historian of Jewish history Bjoern Siegel.
