Film Screening: The Light of Truth

The Amerikazentrum Hamburg presents the documentary for the first time in Germany, as part of the American commemoration day Juneteenth and the 30th anniversary of the city partnership between Hamburg and Chicago.

The Chicago sculptor Richard Hunt, known for his monuments and himself one of the world's most creative icons, has created more public sculptures than any other artist in the USA. His sculptural works honour and commemorate some of the most historically significant figures who will inspire generations.

The 70-minute documentary The Light of Truth: Richard Hunt's Monument to Ida B. Wells connects the life of Richard Hunt and the creation of the monument The Light of Truth with the story of civil-rights activist Ida B. Wells and her heroic fight for justice.
